DIY Sponge Bob Krabby Patty Party Invitations

DIY Sponge Bob Krabby Patty Party Invitations

Last year I made the cutest “krabby patty” invitations for my sons birthday celebration. He wanted a Sponge Bob theme party and even though we didn’t get to have an actual birthday party but rather just a small family gathering where we had cake and drinks, the invitations were literally my only project for a change, so I decided to splurge, if you can call it that.

Normally I don’t spend a lot on invitations just because I know they will end up in the trash, which is why I decided since it was my only DIY possibility for my sons party,  I wanted the invitations to serve one if not a few purposes before meeting their faith in the trash bin. I considered several options but while at one of my many routine Dollar store shopping spree’s, while in the bath/shower section, I saw a couple of round bath sponges and the vision for the Sponge Bob birthday party invitations just came to me…these Krabby Patty burger Invitations will serve as “play” for the little guests and when they’ve lost all the toppings, mommy or daddy could use the sponge around the house, this way at least my tiny investment didn’t feel like a complete waste 😉

Scroll to the very bottom of the page to get a list of supplies and instructions.

I was able to find most of the supplies at the dollar store, with the exception of the Krabby patty stickers, which I designed on Photoshop and printed through Vista print. A more cost-effective way would be to download a picture of the logo onto your computer, printer at Home, use a glue stick to seal the bag with the “sticker”

Supplies needed:

  1. Round natural bath sponge
  2. Craft foam in the following colors; red, green, brown, white, and yellow or orange
  3. Scissors
  4. Brown paper bags; lunch bags.
  5. Tissue paper in your favorite color
  6. Sharpies or markers.

You’ll want to start out by cutting your sponge in half with your scissors, please be careful not to cut your supporting hand.

Then you will want to cut  out your toppings shapes from your craft foam. Here is what I did.

Green: lettuce leaves and pickles

Red: catch up splatter, tomatoes, and bacon strips

White: onion spirals or rings  and mayo splatter

Yellow/orange: cheddar cheese squares

Brown: Beef patties

Next you will want to compose your burger, don’t forget that secret ingredient, your invitation! I gently hot glued it to the inside of the top bun with a tiny drop of hot glue.

Wrap it with tissue paper and then pack it in its delivery bag and voila!

Hope you enjoyed this DIY tutorial for some super cute burger Invitations.
