Every time I visit a dollar store my creative juices start flowing immediately! The possibilities are truly endless there with just a bit of imagination, which is why they are also my first go-to store when working on seasonal crafts or projects. This occasion was none other than Valentine’s Day of course, a photo backdrop for the boys to do a fun little session for our yearly story books. If you have trouble getting your boys, or children in general for that matter, posing how you want them to for family photos, try doing themed shoots, this will usually grab their attention and keep them engaged. What’s more important, don’t tell them what to do, simply let them be kids and pick your favorite pics 😉
I spent less than $10 on this project, $8.32 to be exact and I purchased 4 different sized heart shaped doilies, one package of glitter foam hearts and 2 packages of colorful heart stickers. I used some left over yarn from other projects and left over fabric from a Teepee project I did 3 years ago, that’s it, well…that and about 2 hours to string the hearts together and place the stickers on the yarn.
Hope you like it as much as I did! Don’t forget to include your littles to help out, it’s a great way to get some family time with them 💪🏼
**The boys were a little hesitant to play along because of all the red and pink hearts so I edited the pictures using Photoshop to take down the girly-ness and used an almost black and white filter that only allowed a hint of colors, this made them a little more masculine and the boys loved them!
